Dr. Angela Parry-Hanson Kunadu, a distinguished Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, stands as a prominent figure in the field of Food Science education. Her exceptional dedication, achievements, and leadership have garnered recognition from Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators.
With a wealth of experience spanning several years, Dr. Kunadu’s journey at the University of Ghana began in 2013, where she initially excelled as a Lecturer and has since risen to the position of Senior Lecturer. Her academic prowess extends to her role as a Postdoctoral research associate for Texas A&M University since 2023 and as the Lead Consultant for Safeforia Limited since 2020 where she provides food safety services and training to practitioners in the food industry.
Prior to these prestigious roles, Dr. Kunadu contributed significantly to the field as a technical expert for quality and food safety, at QSHE Resources from 2012 to 2016. She also served as a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge in 2017. Her journey includes positions such as Lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology in 2009, Research Assistant at the University of Pretoria in 2009, Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Pretoria in 2010, and Deputy QEOSH Manager for Algeria and West African Countries at the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company from 2010 to 2013. Dr. Kunadu initiated her academic career as a Research Scientist at the Food Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from 2006 to 2007.
Dr. Kunadu’s academic journey commenced at the University of Alberta, Canada, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biotechnology in 2003. She furthered her studies at the University of Pretoria, achieving a Master of Science in Food Science in 2006, and ultimately earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science in 2010. She credits her success to God and everyone who has supported her throughout her journey, including valuable mentorship and networking, as well as the unwavering backing of her family.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Kunadu has received numerous accolades, including a Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Food Science and Technology, a Post Graduate Student of the Year Award from the South African Society of Dairy Technology in 2009, a Top Fellowship Award from the Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research Excellence in 2016, and a Fellowship Award from the African Woman in Agriculture Research and Development from 2015 to 2017.
Looking ahead, Dr. Kunadu is determined to continue her impactful research, contributing to advancements in science and food safety. Her commitment to excellence, coupled with her passion for education, positions her as a leading force in the field of Food Science.
