Sharon Michael-Chadwell, EdD, dissertation and capstone chair at Capella University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching and administration.

With nearly 45 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Michael-Chadwell has excelled at Grand Canyon University since 2014. She began her career at Park University, where she served for 30 years. She worked as operations manager at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1979 to 1995, and as a teacher at San Antonio Independent School District from 1995 to 1999. She held the position of assistant principal and teacher at Northside Independent School District from 1999 to 2010.  

Dr. Michael-Chadwell established herself as campus college chair for the College of Education at the University of Phoenix from 2010 to 2017. She found success as the dissertation and capstone chair at Capella University since 2012. Concurrent to these postings, she contributed to Liberty University as assistant professor from 2009 to 2022. 

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Michael-Chadwell pursued an education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1979. She continued her academic efforts at Webster University, graduating with a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in human resource development in 1991. She received a principal certification in elementary and middle school administration from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2003. She concluded her studies at the University of Phoenix, obtaining a Doctor of Education in educational leadership in 2008.

Dr. Michael-Chadwell holds certifications from the Texas Education Agency in English as a second language, elementary English 1-8, elementary self-contained 1-8, and as a principal. Beyond her responsibilities within the field, she has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She held the role of board member at the San Antonio YWCA from 2015 to 2019.

In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Michael-Chadwell remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Professional Educators Association for Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from 2009 to 2011, the Texas Diversity Council since 2011, the Hallmark College Advisory Board since 2013, and the Association for Children Education International since 2014. She attributes her success to her love of helping people and her religious faith. In the immediate future, she would like to connect with a university in Ghana and provide support there.
