Stephen W. Schondelmeyer, PharmD, PhD, Professor in the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pharmacy education.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Schondelmeyer has excelled as a professor with the University of Minnesota. As an educator in the College of Pharmacy’s department of pharmaceutical care and health systems, he bears specific expertise in legal, economic and policy issues related to drugs. During his career, he has been responsible for supervising more than 30 faculty members, ranging from practitioners to clinical pharmacists.
While working at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Schondelmeyer dedicated his efforts as the head of the department of pharmaceutical care and health systems. Alongside his work as a professor, he has been a member of the Minnesota Policy Group and served as the director of the PRIME Institute. Dr. Schondelmeyer was also the Century Mortar Club Endowed Chair in pharmaceutical management and economics and a co-principal investigator with the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy’s Resilient Drug Supply Project.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Schondelmeyer graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1974. In 1977, he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, and in 1979, he obtained a Master of Public Administration from The Ohio State University. Dr. Schondelmeyer concluded his higher education at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1984 with a Doctor of Philosophy in pharmaceutical administration.
Adjacent to his primary endeavors, Dr. Schondelmeyer has found success as a researcher for “Upstream Supply Chain for Drugs.” He conducted numerous research projects and additionally served as an adviser to the U.S. Congress for the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988. For his accomplishments, Dr. Schondelmeyer has received numerous awards and accolades. In his spare time, he enjoys reviewing data, monitoring trends in his field, and traveling.
