With more than 10 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Balcaen has excelled as adjunct communications instructor at Park University at F.E. Warren Air Force Base since 2021. Concurrent to this posting, she has served as training and safety coordinator at Jones Lang LaSalle IP, Inc. since 2023. Prior to these positions, she was active as an education consultant at the Division of Special Education Programs at the Wyoming Department of Education from 2018 to 2019. Ms. Balcaen began her career as a secondary teacher at Laramie County School District from 2012 to 2023.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Balcaen pursued an education at Laramie County Community College, where she completed an Associate of Arts in elementary education in 2009. She continued her academic efforts at Regis University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities in 2011. She concluded her studies at the University of Denver, graduating with a Master of Arts in communication management with a concentration in adult learning and development in 2021. Following these accomplishments, Ms. Balcaen was endorsed by Wyoming’s Professional Teaching Standards in English language arts, content and analysis, ,and alternative/non-traditional/at-risk education as well as an exceptional child generalist for grades K through 12.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Balcaen has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She held the role of brand ambassador at Medtronic and is a member of the Cheyenne 798 Toastmaster’s Club. Ms. Balcaen is also affiliated with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and remains a supporter of both the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and the Hispanos Unidos of Cheyenne.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Balcaen has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as a finalist for the Teacher of the Year by Laramie County School District in 2022. Ms. Balcaen was likewise designated as Mrs. Wyoming in 2022. Moreover, she was named as an Honorable Commencement Speaker of the graduation ceremony at Regis University in 2011. Ms. Balcaen was selected as a listee for the Wyoming Business Report’s 30 Under 40 by the Wyoming Tribune Eagle. In the immediate future, she intends to teach on a full-time basis at a university and become a part of a corporate team for a communications organization.
