Rebecca Littleton Sims, Professor at South Georgia State College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in political science education.

With more than 40 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Sims has excelled as a professor at South Georgia State College since 2015. Prior to this position, she served as an assistant professor at South Georgia State College from 2000 to 2008 and as an associate professor of political science at Georgia Highlands College from 2008 to 2015. She previously found success in the field of law as an attorney-at-law operating out of a private practice between 1985 and 1996, a prosecuting attorney in the Officer of the State Court Solicitor for Coffee County, Georgia between 1989 and 1996, and of counsel for Representative Chuck Sims between 1996 and 2008. Ms. Sims began her career as a judicial law clerk for the Waycross Judicial Circuit from 1982 to 1983 before advancing to become the assistant district attorney from 1983 to 1984.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Sims pursued an education at The University of the South, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government, cum laude, in 1979. She continued her academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Baylor University School of Law in 1981. Following these accomplishments, she subsequently earned a Master of Public Administration from Valdosta State University in 2002. Ms. Sims concluded her studies at Georgia State University in 2018, graduating with a Master of Arts in political science.

Ms. Sims attributes her success to her stellar people skills, which enable her to work well with people of many different personality types. Driven by her strong desire to help others as well as her longstanding passion for political science, she shifted her attention towards a career in education after realizing she could better contribute to the next generation through her work in the classroom. Though her professional achievements are many, including helping many students become a greater part of their communities, she is incredibly proud to have raised three wonderful children. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sims hopes to improve her school and continue thriving in her present position.
