Roy C. Carriker, PhD, MBA, Global Businessman, Educator, and Author at Global Advisors LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business education.
With decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Carriker has excelled as the founder of Global Advisors LLC since 2003, a role in which he provides counseling in technology assessment and global business strategy. During this time, he has been additionally active as a professor and director of global programs at the Drexel University Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship from 2013 to 2020, a senior executive in residence at the Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems from 2011 to 2020 and both the chief executive officer and chairman of the board with Indivers BV from 2003 to 2007. Prior to these positions, he worked as the vice chairman for Teleflex between 1990 and 2002. Beginning his career as a practicing physicist and scientist, Dr. Carriker eventually thrived in an administrative capacity as the president and chief executive officer for TFX Aerospace from 1976 to 1990, a tenure in which he grew the company from $2 million to more than $600 million through their international operations.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Carriker has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. From 1954 to 1962, he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. A trustee of the National Arts Program Foundation since 2010, he has likewise contributed to a number of entities in an administrative capacity over the years, including The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, The SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management at The University of Pennsylvania, The Fordham University Gabelli School of Business, United Technologies Research Laboratories, and The Aerospace Industries Association, to name a few. Dr. Carriker has found success with his written works as well, having authored “Have a Good Job?: Why You Will Need a Career! What Gen X, Y & Z Should Know About College and Other Matters” in 2022, “Surviving America’s Financial Abyss: Be the Entrepreneur of Your Own Life” in 2019 and a more than 20 scientific papers throughout his career.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Carriker pursued an education at Washington State University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1960. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in physics at Trinity College in 1963. Following these accomplishments, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in physics from the University of Connecticut in 1968. Dr. Carriker concluded his studies at Harvard Business School in 1976, graduating with a Master of Business Administration.
Recognized as the Pennsylvania Innovation Network’s Entrepreneur of the Year for Service to Small Enterprises in 1994, Dr. Carriker was subsequently presented with the Schulze Award for Outstanding Commentary Publication in 2017 and the Schulze Publication Award in Teaching and Education in 2018. Among the many highlights of his career, he fondly recalls being invited by the Government of the People’s Republic of China to help improve relations between the U.S. and China as part of the Nixon/Kissinger initiative in 1978. Looking toward the future, Dr. Carriker hopes to continue advocating for public awareness and understanding of how the world of earning a living is changing in our society and what individuals can do to be better prepared.
