Christine McBride, Computer Science Teacher and Head Robotics Coach with the Trinity Christian School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in computer science education.
Mrs. McBride teaches digital literacy skills that ensure compliance with technology standards and prepares students for success, equipping students with the essential skills to live, work and excel in the digital world. She has hosted enrichment workshops in Circuits (Snap Circuits, Arduinos), Engineering (Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical) and Information Technology (Cyber Security, Coding) that give opportunities for students to explore STEM fields that are usually only afforded to high school/college students.
Mrs. McBride is an accomplished educator with more than 15 years of professional experience to her credit. Since 2019, she has been a computer science teacher and head robotics coach with the Trinity Christian School. The TCS robotics team, comprised of over eighty 3rd through 8th graders, has grown to the largest robotics team in the state of Illinois, winning multiple prestigious awards including the Rising Star Award in 2022 and the Breakthrough Award in 2023 from First Lego League, an international robotics competition that guides youth through STEM learning and exploration.
In preparation for her career in education, Mrs. McBride attended Joliet Junior College and earned an Associate of Arts in English language education in 2006. In 2008, she graduated from the University of St. Francis with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching. Mrs. McBride graduated from the Learning Behavior Specialist 1 Endorsement program in special education at the University of St. Francis in 2016. Alongside her primary roles, she has been a leader and helper with the Boy Scouts of America since 2010. Each year, her students participate in Argonne National Laboratory’s “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day”. In the future, Mrs. McBride hopes to expand the Trinity Christian School’s computer science, robotics and after-school programs to include diverse STEAM initiatives and create a MakerSpace for students to have a place to innovate, engineer, design and fabricate.
