Thomas Alan Gaines, MEd, Retired Associate Professor at Johnson & Wales University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public speaking.

Mr. Gaines is an accomplished professional educator with more than 30 years of experience to his credit. Now retired, he shared his expertise as an associate professor in the English department at Johnson & Wales University from 1990 to 2023. Prior to this role, he served on active duty in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. Mr. Gaines attributes his success to his honesty and truth. Among his accomplishments, he is proud of becoming the first director of the multicultural center on his campus in 1993.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Gaines attended Bowling Green State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in mass media communication. In 1993, he graduated from Cambridge College with a Master of Education in management and counseling. For his work, he was recognized with a Pathway Pathfinders Award from Steubenville High School in Ohio in 2017. To keep abreast of his field, Mr. Gaines is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, music and singing.
