Carolyn D. Princes, EdD, Founder and Consultant with Diversity Resources Especiales, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and diversity consulting.

Since 2017, Dr. Princes has found success as the founder and consultant of Diversity Resources Especiales in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Prior to this role, she was an inclusion and multicultural programming specialist at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2020. She worked for the same institution as the director of the African American Cultural Center from 1990 to 2018. With decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Princes was an adjunct faculty member in African American studies at The Pennsylvania State University in 2015 and served as an associate dean of students in multicultural affairs at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2013. From 1980 to 1990, she began her career as the director of student support and disabled student services at Frostburg State University.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Princes attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in math and history in 1973. She continued her higher education at the same institution, obtaining a Master of Education in education, administration and supervision in 1979. In 1989, Dr. Princes concluded her higher education at the University of Maryland with a Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction. Alongside her formal degrees, she holds a certificate of completion for training in racism in public schools from the National Education Association, which she earned in 2022. She also held a fellowship in African studies from Georgetown University and the National Council of Black Studies.

Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Princes designed and implemented a program titled “Living Legends” in celebration of Black History Month, which honors living Black advocates for social justice. She has also published books and book chapters and has been contacted to create a film about her recent work “Reimagining Destiny: Reflective Poems of a New Generation.” For her excellence, Dr. Princes received the Athena International Leadership Award in 2020 and the American Association of Women’s Notable Woman Award in 2018. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People also recognized her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. To keep abreast of her field, she has been the branch president of the Indiana County NAACP since 2012. In her spare time, Dr. Princes enjoys dancing, concerts, exercising, and socializing with her colleagues and friends.
