Dr. Amjad Farooq, PhD, an adjunct professor at Middlesex College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry education.
Dr. Farooq initially earned a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from State University of New York at Albany in 1987. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at SUNY Albany and at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1987 to 1991. He joined Colgate-Palmolive Company in 1991 as a research scientist in advanced technology hard surface care. At Colgate-Palmolive, he progressed through various positions of increased responsibility. He retired from Colgate as an associate director of global fragrance research & development global technology. At Colgate-Palmolive, he helped identify, validate and launch many technologies in both home and personal care products. He has been awarded with 30 U.S. Patents in consumer products. He subsequently joined the faculty at Middlesex College in 2019 and has been making a significant impact on students through his teaching and mentorship. Through his work, Dr. Farooq has established himself as a knowledgeable and dedicated educator in the field.
Dr. Farooq’s commitment to education and passion for chemistry have shaped his deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry, allowing him to provide valuable insights to his students. Moreover, he has been recognized as a leader in consumer goods, which enabled him to refine his technical and interpersonal skills. Looking toward the future, Dr. Farooq hopes to cement his legacy as someone who greatly contributed to the advancement of fragrance delivery for home and personal care products.
