Amy Alzina, EdD, Superintendent and Principal at Cold Spring School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With nearly 25 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Alzina has excelled with the Cold Spring School District as a principal and superintendent since 2017. Prior to these positions, she served as a principal for the Adams Elementary School, part of the Santa Barbara Unified School District from 2009 to 2017 and an elementary principal for the Santa Barbara Community Academy, also part of the aforementioned district, from 2006 to 2009. She previously worked for the Santa Barbara Community Academy between 1999 and 2009. As a testament to her accomplishments in the field of education, Dr. Alzina was recognized as the 2018 Congressional Woman of the Year from Congressman Salud Carbajal, the 2019 Region 13 Administrator of the Year, and the recipient of the Leadership Matters Award in 2018 and 2022.
Before embarking upon her professional path, Dr. Alzina initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and sciences from Westmont College in 1998. She continued her formal studies with a Master of Arts in educational leadership and administration at Azusa Pacific University in 2002. She eventually concluded her academic efforts at Concordia University Chicago in 2016, graduating with a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and administration. Inspired by her kindergarten teacher, she was drawn to her field by her love for teaching children and her desire to create a constructive student-teacher relationship. Attributing her success to her mentors, her willingness to ask for help, and her passion for collaboration, Dr. Alzina is particularly proud to help maintain the high standard of education at the Cold Spring School District, despite challenges in remote and in-person learning, and her work even helped the district to receive the California Distinguished School and Exemplary Arts and Education Award.
