Nathan Anthony Jones, English instructor at Skyline College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of English literature and writing.

Drawing on nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Jones is a proven leader in the field of education. Specializing in English literature, reading, writing and editing, he has served as an English instructor at Skyline College since 2011. Adjacent to his primary teaching duties, he also operated as an instructor at Berkeley City College from 2010 to 2017 and at Laney College in 2013. At the onset of his career, he excelled as an instructor for the Upward Bound Project at Holy Names University from 2000 to 2012. In addition to his endeavors as a teacher, Mr. Jones also boasts a large catalog of published works; most recently, he co-edited his book, “The Hip Hop Vegan: Plant-Based Secrets They Won’t Tell You,” and authored a scholarly piece, “Breaking the Silence: The Paradox and Agony of Education,” in 2020. Likewise, he manages his own blog and has delivered numerous presentations on hip-hop music.

Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Jones pursued his own formal education, beginning with his time at California State University, East Bay, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1995. In conclusion of his academic career, he received a Master of Fine Arts in English and creative writing at Mills College at Northeastern University in 2010. To commemorate his accomplishments throughout his career, Mr. Jones has been honored with several accolades, including an Academic Senate Teacher of the Year Award from Skyline College in 2016 and a, Edward and May Chan Award for Outstanding Service to Community College Students in 2010. In light of his fulfilling career, he attributes much of his success to his faith and the support of his family. Accounting for his accomplishments, Mr. Jones is most notably proud of the achievements of his students, which he considers to be the most important part of his legacy.
