Dr. Stacy L. Jones, Dean of Students and Assistant Vice President at The University of Alabama, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With nearly 25 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Jones has excelled with the University of Alabama as the dean of students and an assistant vice president since 2022 as well as an adjunct instructor since 2011. She previously served the aforementioned university as an interim dean of students from 2020 to 2022, the assistant dean of students from 2011 to 2020, the director of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership from 2007 to 2011, the director of student development in the Office of the Dean of Students from 2007 to 2008, and the director of student involvement in the Office of Campus Activities from 2006 to 2007. Prior to these appointments, she was active in a number of positions at the University of Alabama between 1993 and 2006, including the assistant dean of the Office of the Dean of Students, the assistant director for student development, the manager of production and technology students in the Office of Student Media and a production manager for the Office of Student Media. Dr. Jones began her career as an artist with the Tuscaloosa News from 1989 to 1992 and the director of the Delaware-Jackson Unit of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Tuscaloosa County Inc. from 1992 to 1993.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Jones pursued an education at The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in advertising in 1988. She continued her academic efforts with a Master of Arts in higher education administration at The University of Alabama College of Education in 2000. Dr. Jones concluded her studies in the aforementioned college of education in 2007, graduating with a Doctor of Education in higher education administration.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Jones has accrued several accolades over the years from such organizations as the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the Coordinating Council for Student Organizations and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She was additionally presented with the 1996 Sarah Healy Award for Dedicated and Distinguished Service, the 2000 Crimson Spirit Award, the 2008 Capstone Hero Award and the 2022 Dr. Minnie C. Miles Endowed Excellence Award. Also accepting honors from the SOURCE Board of Governors, the African American Alumni Network, the Black Faculty and Staff Association and the College Media Advisors Inc., Dr. Jones has been likewise celebrated by the University of Alabama on a number of occasions throughout her career.
Dr. Jones has attributed her impressive success to the great resources from when she obtained her undergraduate degree. Among the many highlights of her professional journey, she is incredibly proud to have been recognized as the First National Advisor of the Year by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Moreover, she is also grateful to have received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Alabama. Looking toward the future, Dr. Jones hopes to continue making a difference in her field while helping to provide adequate resources for the students at the University of Alabama.
