Le Roy Porter, school board member at the Mid-Del School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public school education.
Mr. Porter leverages more than 50 years of experience as a leader in the field of education. Now retired from his work as a high school teacher and educator, he initially joined the Mid-Del School District in 1967, where he worked extensively until 2001. Since 2005, he has remained active as a school board member for the district, offering his knowledge and expertise to guide the creation of new curriculum and learning initiatives. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Porter also served in the United States Air Force from 1987 to 2001, achieving the rank of chief master sergeant prior to his retirement.
Prior to beginning his career, Mr. Porter pursued his own formal education at the Central State University of Oklahoma (now the University of Central Oklahoma), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in social studies, with a minor in education, in 1966. Furthermore, he ultimately achieved a master’s degree from the institution. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, he was previously honored with a Distinguished Citizen Award from the state of Oklahoma and a Meritorious Service Medal from the U.S. Air Force. Attributing much of his success to the support and encouragement of his wife, Mr. Porter is proud to have impacted the lives of many of his students over the course of his career.
