Chi Che “Franklin” Hsu, retired professor from Bates Technical College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering education.

Mr. Hsu draws on four decades of experience as an expert in the field of education. Specializing in electrical and electronics engineering, he previously operated as a professor at Bates Technical College from 2013 to 2022, having recently retired from his teaching position. Additionally, he was an adjunct instructor at the ITT Technical Institute from 2007 to 2014. Well-versed in martial arts as well, Mr. Hsu was the owner of the Institute of Chinese Martial Arts from 2003 to 2011, during which time he was also an instructor at DeVry University between 2003 and 2007.

At the onset of his career, Mr. Hsu excelled as a design engineer for Boeing from 1984 to 1988. In his other endeavors as an engineer, he worked as a senior project engineer for Honeywell Inc. from 1988 to 1993, an electronics engineer for Biosonics Inc. between 1993 and 1994, and an embedded software engineer for Heart Interface Corporation. In all of his professional endeavors, Mr. Hsu thrived as a teacher of electronics and electrical engineering, mentoring students and colleagues alike in software and hardware systems throughout his career.

Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Hsu cultivated his own formal education. To wit, he studied at Southern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1980 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1982. He also completed doctoral coursework at the University of Washington. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Hsu holds several pertinent certifications, including project management and martial arts instruction.

Mr. Hsu was inspired to become an educator by his father, who also taught engineering. Furthermore, he was encouraged by his martial arts mentor to begin his own institute. Accounting for his accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have made an impact on the lives of countless students. In the coming years, Mr. Hsu hopes to continue supporting children with their education wherever his help is needed.
