Dr. Daphne L. Davis, Owner and Director of St. Sya Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in curriculum development and academic administration.
Since 1996, Dr. Davis has excelled as the owner and director of St. Sya Academy. The organization offers African-centered academic experiences and is supported by private community funding. In her current roles, Dr. Davis supervises preschool instruction, handles administrative duties, develops the curriculum and ensures teachers are up to date on their subject areas.
Dr. Davis has been recognized for her professional excellence with multiple awards and accolades, including a Business Longevity Award in 2016. The W.D. Mohammed Islamic Center gave her a School Choice Leadership Award in 2016 and an Educational Excellence Service Award in 2014. She was also featured in National School Choice Week.
In preparation for her career, Dr. Davis attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. In 2012, she obtained a master’s degree in urban administration, curriculum and instruction development from Capella University. Dr. Davis completed a Doctor of Philosophy in education from Capella University in 2019.
To keep abreast of her field, Dr. Davis has maintained affiliation with the Council of Independent Black Institutions and the Black Educators’ Alliance. She is also a member of the Durham Business & Professional Chain. In the next five years, Dr. Davis hopes to publish her curriculum and establish relationships with educators in other countries.
