JoAnn Loman Wickham, Retired Teacher with Omaha Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public education.
Retired since 2001, Ms. Wickham found success as an educator with Omaha Public Schools for more than 25 years, from 1975 to 2001. During her tenure, she received multiple Parent-Teacher Association awards and a Teacher of the Year Award. Ms. Wickham attributes her success to hard work. Among her achievements, she is proudest of creating a program for students to earn fake money through good work. She helped students open bank accounts and keep track of their money and conducted auctions to let them spend it.
In preparation for her career in education, Ms. Wickham earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She later graduated with a Master of Education in improvement of instruction and completed postgraduate coursework. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
