Alan Lester, Adjunct Business Instructor at Columbia College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business education.
With 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Lester has excelled as an adjunct instructor at the Robert W. Plaster School of Business at Columbia College since 2008. During this time, he had been additionally active with Boulevard Bancshares as the interim chief financial officer and chief operating officer from 2010 to 2013 as well as WestBridge Bank & Trust Company as the interim chief operating officer and controller from 2010 to 2011. Prior to these positions, he worked as the senior vice president of administration for the St. Louis Region of CharterBank from 1983 to 1988, the president of the Akers Group from 1988 to 1990 and a business advisor for NewGround/First Financial from 1990 to 2008. Mr. Lester began his career at a bank in 1973, advancing through a number of roles before finding success in financial services.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Lester pursued an education at Indiana University Bloomington, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in business and finance in 1973. Further refining his skills at the University of Wisconsin, where he obtained a certification in banking and operations, he concluded his studies at Webster University in 1995, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in finance in 1995. He previously served in the U.S. Navy between 1964 and 1967. Proud to teach finance after retiring from the corporate world, Mr. Lester hopes to continue teaching while dedicating his attention to advising and consulting with select businesses.
