Dr. Angel S. Brooks, Assistant Principal at Heritage Elementary, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With more than 20 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Brooks has excelled as an assistant principal with Heritage Elementary, a part of School District U-46, since 2018 and an adjunct professor in the College of Reading at Olivet Nazarene University since 2017. During this time, she was additionally active as an instructional leader and prekindergarten teacher for Academic Mastery Academy in 2019 and an assistant principal for Park Forest, a part of Chicago Heights District 163, in 2018. Prior to these positions, she served in a number of appointments at Park Forest between 2000 and 2017, including as a kindergarten teacher, a second grade teacher, a prekindergarten parent coordinator and a prekindergarten teacher. Attributing her success to the support of her family and community, particularly her parents who instilled in her the importance of education, Dr. Brooks has been notably honored with District Level Recognition from the Superintendent Weekly Newsletter.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Brooks pursued an education at Northern Illinois University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education in 2000. She continued her academic efforts with a Master of Science in the teaching of reading at Chicago State University and a Master of Arts in administration and school leadership and principalship at Concordia University Chicago in 2005. She concluded her studies at Olivet Nazarene University in 2014, graduating with a Doctor of Education. Dedicated to ensuring all of her students receive the most out of their education, Dr. Brooks hopes to advance to become a principal or a full-time college professor in the coming years.
