Patricia Kelly Vana, RN, MSN, Professor Emeritus at Purdue University Northwest, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education.

With more than 60 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Vana has excelled as a part-time faculty member with NCLEX-RN Reviews as part of Elsevier/Health Education Systems since 2000. Having found success in myriad nursing positions between 1962 and 2010, she was additionally active in the field of education as an instructor in nursing, nursing leadership and management and a nursing program coordinator at Purdue University Northwest College of Nursing between 1981 and 2005, a faculty member at the Chicago State University College of Nursing from 1979 to 1981, a faculty member at Wesley-Passavant School of Nursing from 1969 to 1973 and the chairman of the curriculum committee at the Wesley-Passavant School of Nursing from 1972 to 1973. Moreover, she was appointed as the director of quality improvement at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics from 1977 to 1979 and a faculty member for Quality Improvement Seminars throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Frequently published in medical journals, Ms. Vana has also dedicated much of her time to volunteer work with the American Red Cross, The Old Irving Park Community Free Clinic, the Advocate Christ Medical Center, and Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Vana pursued an education at the St. Margaret Hospital School of Nursing, from which she earned a diploma in nursing in 1962. She continued her academic efforts with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at DePaul University in 1969. She concluded her formal studies at Loyola University in 1975, graduating with a master’s degree in nursing. As a testament to her accomplishments, Ms. Vana has been recognized among the 2000 Notable American Women and has been honored within International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women.
