Beth R. Wentworth, PhD, Professor Emeritus at Chadron State College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mathematics education.
Ms. Wentworth is an award-winning educator with 25 years of professional experience, most recently finding success as a professor emeritus at Chadron State College since 2020. She previously thrived in her role as an associate professor of mathematics at Chadron State College for 17 years. Earlier, she began her career as an instructor at Northern State University for one year. Adept at teaching mathematics to all levels of learning, she has additionally taught a methods class to middle school and high school students.
To heighten her knowledge in her field, Ms. Wentworth earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction for mathematics education at the University of Minnesota in 2004. She also holds a master’s degree in teaching mathematics education from Northern State University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minot State University.
The Nebraska State College System bestowed Ms. Wentworth with its Teaching Excellence Award in 2020. Additionally she was nominated to be on the Board of Trustees of the Chadron State Alumni Foundation. Committed to staying attuned to developments in her industry, she maintained memberships with the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Inspired by her father to become a teacher, she has achieved success not only by applying what she learned in college but from the experiential knowledge shared with her by her colleagues. Furthermore, Ms. Wentworth has been devoted to the welfare of her community, volunteering at the Closer to Home Program through her local church, serving nutritious meals at the American Legion, and generously donating her time at family math nights and after-school programs for youths.
