Dr. Odessa H. Pride, Retired High School Teacher at Prince Edward County High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
Harnessing the expertise gathered in more than 35 years of professional experience, Ms. Pride found success as a school administrator. She excelled as the director of Korea education for one year and thrived during several years as a high school and middle school principal. Previously, she was a teacher at Prince Edward County High School for 22 years. Always willing to share what she has learned, she has served as a tutor during her retirement.
Dr. Pride earned a doctorate in supervision and administration from Virginia State University in 2009 and a master’s degree in supervision and administration at Longwood University in 1988. Earlier, she attained a bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia State University in 1976. She is a resident member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society at Hampden-Sydney College.
In a career filled with impressive achievements, Dr. Pride is particularly proud of having served as chair of the board of supervisors in her school district. Committed to making improvements in her community, she is also chair of the Board of Supervisors in her county and sits on the Board of Directors for Central Southside Community Hospital and the Board of Directors for Piedmont Senior Resources. A deeply spiritual individual, she has been the organist and pianist at several local churches for 55 years.
