Tanya Lesch-Coppock, Special Education Educator at Killeen Independent School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special education.

In preparation for her career in education, Ms. Coppock attended Southeast Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in special education. She continued her higher education at Kaplan University and earned a Master of Science in special education. Alongside her formal degrees, she is certified in behavioral and emotional disorders. After serving as a resource teacher and interim professional, she became a special education educator at Killeen Independent School District in 2012, a post she has held since.

Ms. Coppock has maintained membership in the National Education Association and was nominated for a Teacher of the Year Award from the Belair School. In her current post, she teaches fourth and fifth grade skills students, helping them to reach their individualized education plan (IEP) goals. Ms. Coppock attributes her success to the support of her school and her family. She knew she wanted to become a teacher since she was in the first grade. Drawing inspiration from her teacher, Ms. Regal, Ms. Coppock was later drawn to special education after learning about it in the eighth grade. In the coming years, she hopes to continue teaching.
