From 2019 to 2020, she was a teacher with the Open Arms Lutheran Child Development Center, and from 2016 to 2019, she garnered experience as a kindergarten and first grade teacher at the Challenge Preparatory Charter School in Far Rockaway, New York. Ms. Valencia Brown began her career as an educator with Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities, serving as the after-school program director from 2010 to 2012. From 2007 to 2009 and 2012 to 2014, she worked as a primary and kindergarten teacher for the Mt. Olivet Christian School in Corona, New York.
In preparation for her educational career, Ms. Valencia-Brown attended Seton Hall University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in corporate and political communications in 2004. In 2015, she obtained a Master of Science in early childhood education from St. John’s University. To keep abreast of her field, Ms. Valencia-Brown is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the Women’s Organization in Georgia. She remains affiliated with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and volunteers with community outreach programs. In the coming years, Ms. Valencia-Brown hopes to pursue a doctorate in early childhood special education at the University of West Georgia.
