Ameen Abdur-Rashied, Band Director at Peeples Middle School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.

In preparation for his career pursuits, Dr. Abdur-Rashied attended Jackson State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Education. Additionally, he completed a specialist degree in educational administration at the university and graduated with a Doctor of Education. Since his graduation, Dr. Abdur-Rashied has worked as a professional musician, studio musician, college music instructor, middle school band director, and developmental education instructor.

Dr. Abdur-Rashied has found success since 2019 as the band director at Peeples Middle School. Attributing his professional success to his training and family support, he considers working simultaneously as a music educator and composer to be the highlight of his career. Dr. Abdur-Rashied’s performance career spanned more than 45 years. He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and was previously recognized as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America. In the coming years, his goal is to see the continued success of the food sanctuary he founded more than a decade ago. Additionally, Dr. Abdur-Rashied hopes to publish children’s books.
