With over three decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Peevey has cultivated a career of excellence in the field of education. With a focus on special education, she has operated as a special education teacher for the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District for much of her career. She originally began her career working in the Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) for five years before subsequently taking on her current position. In her current role, Ms. Peevey is proud to have assisted in revitalizing the special education programs available to students with particular needs in her region.

Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Peevey pursued her own education. She began her studies at The University of Texas at El Paso, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1990. She later continued her collegiate career at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and achieved a master’s degree in special education in 2002. Ms. Peevey naturally gravitated towards a career in education from a young age, having wanted to become a teacher since she was in second grade. She was inspired to pursue special education after the birth of her first daughter, who has special needs. Over the course of her career, Ms. Peevey has largely attributed her success to her ability to listen to her students and her willingness to try new things in the classroom environment. To wit, she always remains abreast of new research in her field and uses it to develop new methods of teaching. In the coming years, Ms. Peevey hopes to continue helping younger teachers by improving teaching standards and developing new special education curricula.
