With more than 15 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Copley has excelled as a teacher at Port Arthur Memorial High School in Texas since 2022. Prior to this appointment, she served as a teacher with Opportunity Now, part of XP Synergy Companies, between 2021 and 2022. She began her career as a teacher at South Park Middle School in Beaumont, Texas from 2007 to 2016. Among the many highlights of her career, Ms. Copley fondly recalls tasking her students with writing an “American Dream” for the future, which she quilted alongside her mother and sent to former President Barack Obama upon his election.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Copley pursued an education at Lamar University, from which she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2000. She subsequently obtained her certifications as an English, language arts, writing, reading and special education teacher in the state of Texas. Ms. Copley attributes her present success to her ability to create lasting bonds with her students by exhibiting that she is there for all of them and can make a tangible connection with each of them.
