Since 2020, Dr. Corum has found success with Southeastern Illinois University as an English instructor, academic advisor, and disability coordinator. From 2017 to 2020, he shared his expertise as an instructor of English as a second language with VIPKid, before which he was a graduate instructor of English composition with Southern Illinois University from 2015 to 2017. While studying for his degrees, Dr. Corum began his career as a resident assistant at Western Kentucky University from 2013 to 2015. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and religious studies, summa cum laude. In 2017, he earned a Master of Arts in literature and rhetorical criticism, summa cum laude, from Southern Illinois University, and in 2021 he graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Doctor of Philosophy in English literature in criticism.
Alongside his degrees, Dr. Corum holds a TEFL/TESOL Certification, which he earned in 2019. He has been involved in numerous volunteer efforts, including with the Harrisburg Community Compassion Center and the National Parks Project. He is also the author of many presentations in his field and has been recognized for his accomplishments with numerous awards and accolades. In 2021, Dr. Corum was named an Academic Lecturer Champion by the National Forensics Association, and in 2015 he was an Extemporaneous Speaking Finalist with the same organization. In 2014 and 2015, he earned Top Presentation Awards at the Western Kentucky University Student Research Conference. To remain up to date with his field, Dr. Corum has been associated with the Association of English Graduate Instructors and Students, the National Forensics Association, the Modern Language Association, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Pi Kappa Delta National Honorary Society. In the coming years, he plans to continue to grow as a professional.
