Paul A. Lindauer, DDS, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and Clinical Associate Professor at the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dentistry education.

Affiliated with East Carolina University since 2014, Dr. Lindauer has found success as a clinical associate professor in the School of Dental Medicine since 2019 and an assistant dean for academic success since 2022. Alongside his work as an educator, he has worked as an endodontist for the same institution since 2014. Prior to these posts, he was a clinical associate professor with the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry’s department of endodontics from 2013 to 2014.

Dr. Lindauer served in the United States Navy for 33 years, reaching the rank of captain before his retirement in June 2014. From 1986 to 2014, he was an endodontist with the United States Navy, and from 2005 to 2014, he served as a command consultant in endodontics and the endodontics department head with the Fisher Clinic at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. Dr. Lindauer also excelled in the Navy as the commanding officer of the 1st Dental Battalion/Naval Dental Center at Camp Pendleton in California from 2002 to 2005. From 1996 to 1999, he was the company commander of the 2nd Dental Company at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, and from 1995 to 1996, he was the clinic director of the Naval Dental Center in Great Lakes, Illinois.

In addition to his clinical and educational professional pursuits, Dr. Lindauer has been an accomplished author and presenter in his field. In 2021, he co-authored studies in the Journal of Endodontics and the Journal of Dental Education. He additionally gave presentations at the American Association of Endodontists Educators Workshop and the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lindauer has shared his knowledge in numerous further published works dating back to 1989 and multiple presentations dating back to 2018.

For his accomplishments in dentistry, Dr. Lindauer has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including being listed in Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans. He has received an Outstanding Faculty Award, American Student Dental Association Student Advocate Award, and East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine Faculty Leadership Award. Dr. Lindauer was nominated for Man of the Year by the American Biographical Institute and was named to Two Thousand Notable American Men by the same organization. During his military service, he was recognized with four Meritorious Service Medals, a Meritorious Unit Citation, a Legion of Merit, a Presidential Unit Citation, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, four Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and two National Defense Service Medals, among multiple further military honors.

Dr. Lindauer prepared for his career with a Bachelor of Science in biology, summa cum laude, which he earned from Loyola University Chicago in 1979. He continued his education with a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Loyola University Chicago School of Dentistry in 1981 and a Certificate of Residency Training in Endodontics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 1988. Dr. Lindauer completed his studies with a Master of Education from East Carolina University in 2019 and holds numerous professional certifications. He remains up to date on developments in dentistry through his affiliation with numerous professional associations, including the American Dental Association and the American College of Dentists. In the coming years, Dr. Lindauer would like to teach endodontic residents.
