Richard W. Sherfey, EdD, Retired Principal at Tucson Unified School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

Drawing on his innate tendency to help individuals, along with his success in interacting with all types of learners and educators, Dr. Sherfey achieved 40 years of professional experience, including 30 years as a teacher and administrator in public schools and a decade of work in higher education. He retired in 1992 as a principal in the Tucson Unified School District.

The eldest of six siblings, he supported himself during college after honorably completing his military commitment. He had initially attempted to enter the accounting arena, completing several courses in the field before focusing his academic journey on education.

Dr. Sherfey takes tremendous pride in being contacted by his former students, including individuals he taught in elementary schools and at college and those who have become teachers with the Tucson Unified School District. Excited by playing such an important role in the development of young minds, he advises aspiring educators to remain calm and positive in their approach to teaching and to keenly listen to the wide range of communications from students and instructors.
