Since 2013, Dr. Machado has built a prosperous career working at Thomas Jefferson University. Specializing in women’s health research and contrast-enhanced ultrasound, she works with the university to develop new technologies and means for diagnosing patients, in addition to teaching echo imaging courses. From 2018 to 2022, she operated as a project manager in the university’s research department, and since 2022, she has served as a research assistant professor. Adjacent to her primary responsibilities, Dr. Machado is also a member of the advisory editorial board of the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Prior to beginning her career, Dr. Machado cultivated her own education at Centro Universitário Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in Brazil, where she achieved an MD in 2003. As part of her dedication in the field, she also maintains her membership with the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. From an early age, Dr. Machado was interested in learning more about the human body, as so she naturally gravitated towards a career in medicine and education. To wit, she attributes much of her success to her love of research, brilliant mentors, and loving and supportive parents. In the coming years, Dr. Machado is excited to continue moving forward in her career, with the hopes of becoming a more integral part of the team at Thomas Jefferson University and seeing her work leveraged in a clinical setting.
