David Nogg, Principal at Goldenview Middle School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education administration.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in education with an emphasis in psychology from Alaska Pacific University, Mr. Nogg subsequently earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Alaska Southeast. His classroom instructional experience includes teaching social studies, language arts, health and special education/affective skills. From 2013 to 2017, he provided superior service as an assistant principal with the Alaska School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Clark Middle School and Mears Middle School and since 2017 as principal of Goldenview Middle School in Anchorage. A passionate advocate, he has served as a panelist for the Multicultural Education Concerns Advisory Committee (MECAC) speaking on the impacts of bullying and harassment prevention strategies and initiatives. In 2020, Mr. Nogg was awarded Principal of the Year, Association for Science Teacher Education.
Mr. Nogg attributes his success to his passion for teaching and love of seeing students and staff reach their potential in a safe and inclusive setting. He became involved in his profession because of his interest in social studies, because it was the one subject in school that he was most passionate about and in turn his passion has become his motivation to eventually pursue a career path in education. As a career highlight, Mr. Nogg cites being able to change the education culture for the betterment of children in their school and is additionally proud of building a family perspective, knowing that students, parents and staff all function for the same purpose of supporting student achievement. In the coming years, he intends to complete a doctorate degree as well as a superintendent’s license in order to continue to provide exemplary leadership as his skillset continues to grow.
