David G. Badertscher, retired principal law librarian with the New York Unified Court System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

With over six decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Badertscher has excelled in the fields of education and library science, having previously operated as a librarian and teacher for various legal agencies and schools. In 1980, he was appointed to the positions of principal and law librarian of the New York Supreme Court, as part of the New York State Unified Court System, and he operated in these roles until retiring in 2012. He previously served as the director of the library for Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy in New York between 1978 and 1980, an executive librarian at the Georgetown University Law Center from 1973 to 1978, and a librarian for Schiff, Hardin, Waite, Dorschel and Britton in Chicago, Illinois, from 1970 to 1973. Mr. Badertscher originally began his career in 1957, working as a teacher at Rockville High School in Indiana until 1959. Since retiring, he has remained active in his various vocational and civic-minded interests, participating with The Fellowship Foundation, the Internet Society, the Summit Area Old Guard, and the Westfield Historical Society.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Badertscher pursued a formal education at Indiana State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1957 and a Master of Science in social science in 1962. He subsequently continued his collegiate studies at Dominican University (formerly Rosary College) in River Forest, Illinois, where he achieved a Master of Library Science in 1967. In addition to his academic credentials, he is also recognized as a certified professional law librarian by the American Association of Law Libraries. Between 1959 and 1961, he honorably served with the United States Army. As part of his dedication in the field, he has maintained his affiliation with The American Bar Association, and he is a former member of numerous other industry-related organizations. Having been recognized with several accolades and awards over the course of his accomplished career, Mr. Badertscher attributes much of his success to his dedicated work ethic, open-mindedness and caring personality.
