He continues to teach and work with doctoral students at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State. He has also provided superior service with the federal U.S. government with the Bureau of Land Management in the Department of the Interior and has held positions with the Colorado City Management Association and the Ohio City Management Association. His work with city councils, charter commissions and charter review commissions over the years has included staffing as well as designing procedures. Dr. Keller’s honors include the Lifetime Academic Award from the International City County Management Association in what he considers to be a career highlight.

Dr. Keller became involved in his profession because he has always been interested in politics ever since he was young, having read Madison’s notes to the Constitutional Convention. From there, he was captivated by the constitutional history and politics. Believing that a modern city requires equally effective public officials and citizens, he has worked with numerous community groups to help them understand modern systems of governance and assisting them with improving their interactions with government. In the coming years, he intends to publish some books and to continue to teach.
