Dr. Vignarajah was a professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins University and Morgan State University, both in Baltimore, Maryland, from 1984 to 2013. She began her career as a professor at St. Bridget’s Convent in Colombo, Sri Lanka, teaching there from 1963 to 1980. She also worked as a computer scientist at the United States Army Aberdeen Test Center and the Aberdeen Proving Ground. During her career, she was a professor at multiple institutes of higher learning, taught high school students and worked for the United States Department of Defense.

Dr. Vignarajah began her education at the University of Madras in Tamil Nadu, India, graduating with a bachelor’s in math and statistics. She attended the G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, earning a master’s in computer science. She subsequently attended University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Campus and graduated with a doctorate in information systems.

Dr. Vignarajah has previously been featured in Who’s Who of Top Educations and in 1970 was a teacher ambassador for the United States. She attributes her career success to hard work. During her career, she has traveled around the world and she has taught many students, including one pupil who went on to become the prime minister of Sri Lanka.
