She is active as a building liaison for the Duncanville Police Department in Duncanville, Texas and as a consultant for the Greater Dallas Community Relations Committee.
Dr. Stalcup-Laws Burley graduated with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1973. She obtained a master’s degree in education as a reading specialist at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas in 1978. Later, she continued her education at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, graduating with a master’s degree in counseling in 1997. She earned her doctorate in family studies at Texas Woman’s University in 2003 and completed coursework in secondary school administration and principalship at Lamar University in 2019.
Dr. Stalcup-Laws Burley is a special education counselor, reading specialist, school counselor, licensed practice counselor, licensed professional counselor with training supervision designation and has a provisional certification in secondary biology and secondary English. She plans on teaching students as a full-time professor in the future.
