Roni Taborn, Substitute Teacher at Yonkers Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and first aid instruction.
Ms. Taborn earned a Master of Arts in physical education from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York and a Master of Science in health education followed by coursework toward a Master of Science in therapeutic recreation from Lehman College in the Bronx. She is a certified lifestyle coach, certified wellness coach and a licensed teacher in health and physical education.
Ms. Taborn has excelled in education for over three decades as a teacher and later substitute teacher with the Yonkers public schools since 1991. In addition, she has provided superior service as an adult education teacher from 1990 to 1991 and a lead instructor in the Big Apple Games at George Washington High School. Ms. Taborn, avidly interested in aiding her community, volunteered for the American National Red Cross for five years and served as a CPR and first aid instructor for New York City from 1993 to 2015, in what she considers to be a career highlight.
Attributing her success to hard work, determination, and her internal motivation, Ms. Taborn became involved in her profession because of her passion for teaching. Prior to starting a career in education, she worked in civil service and helped teachers in their career advancement. Aspiring to advance in her career herself, she took the licensure examination for teachers and when she passed it, she immediately was able to build the confidence and passion that are needed to pursue a career path as an educator.
In the coming years, Ms. Taborn hopes to become an entrepreneur and start her own business that focuses on health and wellness coaching. They are in the process of establishing the business and it will be known as Taborn Holistic Wellness Coaching.
