An influential figure in education for over 12 years, Ms. Wyatt Schmitt previously served as a mental health and chemical dependency counselor from 2001 to 2009. Ms. Wyatt Schmitt earned a Master of Science in social work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2000 and previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in social work from St. Edward’s University. She became inspired to pursue careers in social work and education by her experiences as a youth with a school social worker who helped her through difficult times and with her mother’s special education class, with which she helped create activities.
The author of “Listen with Your Heart,” a book that guides parents on how to help their children process grief, Ms. Wyatt Schmitt hopes to launch her own nonprofit and write a book that highlights the influence professional development has had on her throughout her years in education.
