Betty Murray, Teacher at Fulton County Board of Education, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in grade school education.

Following obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education from Lehman College in New York in 1979, Ms. Murray followed with a Master of Arts in elementary education from Clark Atlanta University in 1983 and she continued her education with a Master of Arts in special education from the same school in 1985.

Ms. Murray has provided superior education as an elementary school teacher for grades 1 to 5 with the Fulton County Board of Education from 1984 to 2020, during which time she also excelled as an early intervention teacher in reading and mathematics, providing assistance at the first warning signs of educational difficulty to prevent further impediment, for third, fourth and fifth graders with Feldwood Elementary School from 2010 to 2020. Enthusiastically committed to her community, Ms. Murray has served as a scout leader with the Girl Scouts of America and chairperson of Vocation Bible School.

Ms. Murray became involved in her profession because she was the oldest of five siblings and helped her mother take care of them. Initially she had wanted to be a nurse but her mother encouraged her to teach. As a career highlight, she cites several nominations for Teacher of the Year and winning once. Now enjoying her retirement, Ms. Murray intends to step up her traveling in the coming years.
