Ms. Barnes attributes her success to deep faith and to her family, who always motivated and pushed her. Her parents have been together for 50 years and they have always taught her the value of education and doing her best in everything she does. In 2017, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder where she ended up being hospitalized for a month. Her immediate family gave her the motivation to push through and continue her educational endeavors. Ms. Barnes takes special pride in being the first in her immediate family to complete a bachelor’s degree and later, two master’s degrees.

Setting a goal to continue working with children, whether it be in an administrative role or as a school counselor, Ms. Barnes in the coming years would like to continue working with children to try and help them become better people.
