Kris Bienkowski Szabo, Principal at Coleytown Middle School, part of Westport Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With many years of experience to her credit, Ms. Szabo has excelled as the principal of Coleytown Middle School, part of the Westport Public Schools, since 2004. Prior to this position, she was active as a principal for Griswold Elementary School in Connecticut, a language arts coordinator, a reading tutor, a mathematics teacher and a special education teacher for Region 18 in Connecticut, an interrelated resource teacher for PB Ritch Elementary School in Hiram, Georgia and a milieu counselor for Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts. To support her professional endeavors, Ms. Szabo earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and special education from Boston University, a Master of Arts in reading and language arts from Saint Joseph College and a school administration and supervision degree from Sacred Heart University.
Passionate about education from her formative years, Ms. Szabo attributes her success for her love of having an impact on the lives of others, as it consistently fuels her compassion and empathy. Esteemed for her hard work, she was drawn to academic administration after receiving encouragement to advance in the field during her time in Lyme-Old Lyme, Connecticut, and has remained grateful to help coach teachers as well as students. Fondly recalling her efforts to lead children and her families through reopening measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, she is personally proud of her time as a mother, stepmother and wife. Looking toward the future, Ms. Szabo hopes to engage in activities that help to educate, advocate for and mentor women while furthering her involvement in health and wellness coaching following her retirement from academia.
