Rick Reigert, Art Teacher at Doniphan West Junior/Senior High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education in the arts.
After acquiring a Bachelor of Science in art education from Peru State College in Nebraska in 1987, Mr. Reigert later continued his education with a Master of Arts in art education in 1998 from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
Mr. Reigert began his career in art education in 1987 as an art teacher with East Buchanan Elementary/High School in the East Buchanan C-1 School District, where he excelled until 2004. He then excelled as art instructor with the Saint Joseph public schools from 2004 to 2019 and subsequently with Doniphan West Junior/Senior High School in Highland, Kansas from 2019 to the present. Currently, he teaches eighth grade class, three high school classes and two junior high school classes, and additionally teaches aerospace design incorporating flight in art and coaches for the academic team for the junior high scholar bowl. In addition, he has provided superior service as store manager of General Nutrition Centers, Inc. in St. Joseph since 2000.
As testimony to his excellence as an art teacher, Mr. Reigert was accepted to the National Gallery Art Education teachers’ program in Washington in 1999. His professional memberships include the National Art Education Association, Kansas Art Education Association and Missouri Art Education Association. As a painter, he has captured several art contests in oil painting.
Mr. Reigert attributes his success to his work ethic as well as to his passion for teaching and working with students. He became involved in his profession because of his student teaching and education endorsement experience while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree. He then decided that education is the field in which he wished to be involved and then completed his master’s degree in art education and eventually pursued a career path as an art educator. Overall, he has 35 years of experience in education.
Being able to establish and maintain a good relationship with his former and current students is what Mr. Reigert is most proud of. He is also most proud of the fact that he was able to touch and impact many lives and made a difference. In the coming years, he plans to continue his successful career as an art educator.
