Christina Alexander, Professor of Humanities at St. Petersburg College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching and performing.

Following obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1990 and a Master of Arts in 1992 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Alexander received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in religion in 1996 Pacific Universal Life Church. She then earned an accounting degree in school accounting and bookkeeping in Atlanta in 2000 and later a Doctor of Philosophy in 2013 from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.

A gifted linguist, Dr. Alexander provided superior services as a translator and interpreter for Word for Word, Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia in 1990, as an instructor in the Language Prague Language School in the Czech Republic from 1990 to 1991 and as executive director of KultureKastle in Virginia Beach, Virginia beginning in 1996. She excelled from 2010 to 2015 as president of the Pinellas Opera League, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting an interest in opera and musical theater and to providing financial assistance to aspiring singers, hosts luncheons with entertainment by performers from are opera companies, , as a professor with Jacksonville University, and since 2005 as a professor of humanities with St. Petersburg College in Pinellas County.

Dr. Alexander has also flourished as a performing artist with MARA Agency in Vienna, Austria in 1994, the Joy Fund Theater in Norfolk, Virginia from 1996 to 1997, the Boys and Girls Club, Inc. in Newport News, Virginia in 1997, the M.E. Cox Center and Waterfront Arts Festival in Virginia Beach in 1997.

Dr. Alexander began her career as a teacher, then as an apprentice in a performing company. She was in a dance company that did presentations, original dances, and then she would give some short talks to introduce some of the performances until she was recommended to apply for a teaching position. When she was offered a year-long apprenticeship with a dance company in New York, she accepted. She went on to start her own company, get contracts to perform in various festivals, and do some creative things for various theaters.

In the coming years, Dr. Alexander hopes to publish her autobiography and tour with her own original music. She released three albums during the pandemic. In addition, she would really love to continue with her doctoral interest, which is indigenous people and cultures. She would like to publish a book and maybe tour with her own original music and stage productions.
