Catherine McGregor-Bentz, Retired College Instructor at Shasta College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
A former bookkeeper, Ms. McGregor-Bentz worked for several companies prior to becoming a college instructor. To prepare for her career as an educator, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and sociology and went on to attain a Masters of Business Administration in marketing from City University-Bellevue Washington. She was a flight attendant for Pam Am right after college. Now retired, she served as an instructor for Shasta Community College for 15 years. In this capacity, Ms. McGregor-Bentz taught several courses in the business division, including records management and office procedures.
During the course of her tenure, Ms. McGregor-Bentz greatly enjoyed teaching on the subject of office procedures, theories and medical terms, which was added due to demand from students who were in training to become nurses or work in medical offices. She also taught a typing course and a 10 key course by sight only, and, under her instruction, students were able to double their typing speed and proficiency.
A dedicated civic advocate, Ms. McGregor-Bentz contributes to her local community via several local organizations. Among them, she is a member of the Emblem, Women of the Moose, and Delta Kappa Gamma, an educator’s sorority – all sponsor student scholarships. She was honored to be elected Senior Regent of the Moose and held many offices in the Emblem Club. She received awards from both. She joined the Red Hat Society for fun. When not volunteering, Ms. McGregor-Bentz enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Along with her spouse, they have taken their children to car shows in their classic cars.
