Catherine McGregor-Bentz, Retired College Instructor at Shasta College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
Ms. McGregor-Bentz obtained a bachelor’s degree in French and sociology at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before earning a master’s degree in business administration in marketing at the City University of Seattle. She taught students for 15 years at Shasta College in Redding, California, with her subjects including recording management, theories, medical terms and office procedures. Real-world work experience as an office manager provided her with firsthand knowledge of the subjects that she has taught.
Upon her graduation from college, Ms. McGregor-Bentz worked as a flight attendant for Pan Am for four years, which offered her the opportunity to see the world and learn about cultures all over the globe. These experiences helped her find success as a teacher, allowing her to connect with students from various places. Her areas of expertise include records management, office procedures, advanced typing and medical terms.
Working in office environments led Ms. McGregor-Bentz toward the teaching path, where she could share the skills and knowledge that she learned in her professional life. She attributes her parents to her professional success as they inspired her to pursue education by leading by example.
Ms. McGregor-Bentz is a community leader and remains active in several groups and organizations. She is a member of the Delta Kappa Lambda, the Red Hat Society Inc. and the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America. She was also active as a senior regent of Women of the Moose.
Ms. McGregor-Bentz is the current owner of MCG Enterprises, a company that she plans to expand in the coming years. An online jewelry business, MCG Enterprises is the next career adventure that she will challenge herself with now.
