Lila Kane, Adjunct Professor at Rhode Island College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Ms. Kane graduated from Brooklyn College in New York, New York in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in music. She subsequently became a freelance accompanist, musical director and piano teacher in Rhode Island, positions that she has held since 1981. She is active as a music director for community theaters, an accompanist in the Light Opera of New York and a piano teacher in her own studio. Since 2000, she has excelled as a musical theater teacher and guest artist at the University of Rhode Island Theater Department. She is currently part of the adjunct faculty at Providence College and Rhode Island College.
Ms. Kane is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Rhode Island Music Education Association. She started offering piano lessons while in grade school and worked on a musical production while still attending high school. She refined her skills through new opportunities that arose through local community theater projects. She attributes her career success to her passion and dedication for music and teaching.
