Brinda Renee Clarke, Reading Coach, Standardized Testing Coordinator and Curriculum Coordinator at The Salisbury School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in reading education.

Since the age of six, Ms. Clarke aspired to be an educator and followed the path her dream by earning a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a minor in Spanish. The first in her family to earn a college degree, she later achieved a Master of Science in human resources management from Wilmington College in 1989 and became certified to teach English as a second language and reading. Ms. Clarke quickly spearheaded a career in the education sector and taught in the state of Delaware for 26 years. For more than one decade, she has served The Salisbury School in Salisbury, Maryland as a reading coach, standardized testing coordinator and curriculum coordinator. Likewise, she has been a member of the International Literacy Association, formerly International Reading Association, for 30 years.

Finding great success in her profession, Ms. Clarke has been honored with various accolades including a Betty Scharf Memorial Award from The Host Company, which is given to an individual who ran reading programs. Additionally, she has accepted a Teacher of the Year Award from Frankford Elementary School and Seaford Middle School, as well as a Jefferson Award from Riviera C TV Station signed by then Sen. Joe Biden, which is awarded to those who volunteer their time within their community beyond their primary job. Humbled to have been honored by so many, Ms. Clarke considers seeing her students develop their reading skills, emerge as students and become independent readers has been her most notable accomplishment and the most rewarding aspect about her profession. To her, it’s not about the accolades but the lives she was able to touch and change. Ms. Clarke attributes her success to her leadership skills, to being open to new ideas and changes, and to the administration that she worked under for they aspired to help children succeed.
