Since 2015, Ms. Schmitt has provided superior education as band teacher with the Parsippany Troy Hills School District, where her responsibilities include teaching small group lessons to the students based on their instruments of choice as well as doing band rehearsals. Additionally, since 2011, she has prospered as a teacher with the Mount Tabor Summer Music Camp and as a music theory tutor with Grove City College from 2013 to 2015.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Music in 2015 from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, Ms. Schmitt followed with a Master of Music from Boston University in 2019. She holds a New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) Teacher of Music from the New Jersey Department of Education as well as Pennsylvania PK-12 Instructional I certification. Her professional memberships include the New Jersey Music Educators Association and National Music Educators Association.
According to Ms. Schmitt, her career highlight has been her ability to teach and help 4th grade students who are amid their first experience with their instrument. She teaches them from basic up to being able to play through certain songs during their 5th grade year. Watching them grow both in experience and excitement bring her a great sense of accomplishment. Ms. Schmitt’s goal in the coming years is to finish her master’s degree in educational psychology and to be able to work towards implementing it in the classroom. She also hopes to teach up to middle school level and wants to keep inspiring children to learn and love music.
