Chelsea Silvermintz, Band Director at Lindbergh High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.

Following coursework in music education from 2002 to 2007 at the University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Silvermintz obtained a master’s degree in music education in 2014 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her professional memberships include the Missouri Music Educators Association, Missouri Bandmasters Association and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and she serves as president of the St. Louis Suburban Music Educators Association. In light of her professional achievements, Ms. Silvermintz has been honored several times, earning the Terry Scholars Full Scholarship to the University of Texas and a Top Honor in Music Education Award from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

As band director of Lindbergh High School, Ms. Silvermintz teaches beginning clarinet in the sixth-grade band as well as assisting in the middle school, directing a freshman band and she also assisting with the school’s 10th through 12th grade concert band as well as the marching band and the woodwind choir. She is also the director of the pit orchestra for musicals each year, in what she considers a career highlight.

Ms. Silvermintz is proudest of the students whose lives she has affected. After she lost her mother at age 18, she has been especially cognizant of the role she plays in her students’ lives. She strives to teach them about being humble, working hard and being kind.
