Charles Ochocki, Principal at South Saint Paul High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in secondary school education.
Mr. Ochocki initially obtained a BA in History and Education from Mary Washington College, now known as University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, Virginia and followed with a master’s degree in educational policy from the University of Minnesota. After providing superior education as a history teacher for seven years, he served as dean of students at South Saint Paul High School for five years. He became principal at New Stillwater Junior High in 2010 following the retirement of former principal Rick Wippler, serving until 2013, when he returned to South Saint Paul High School as principal.
During his career in education, Mr. Ochocki has achieved many honors, including the Capital Division Principal of the Year Award from the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals in 2014 and the Minnesota Middle Level Principal of the Year Award from the Minnesota School Board in 2015. To remain aware of changes and advancements in his field, he maintains affiliations with the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals.
Mr. Ochocki attributes his success to his wife and the team of employees with whom he works. Initially interested in a career in law, he realized how much he enjoyed working with children as a summer camp counselor. As a history teacher and dean of students, Mr. Ochocki wanted to help as many students as he could by making school a really positive environment for them and encourage them to study because he believed education opened a lot of doors, since he was the first member of his family to graduate from college. In the coming years, he is hoping for continued success with South Saint Paul High School, which his son will soon be attending.
