Amanda Grundel, M.Ed., M.S., Associate Principal at Foster-Glocester Regional School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education administration.

Following obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in secondary English education and drama and a Master of Education in literacy from Rhode Island College in Providence, Ms. Grundel then earned a Master of Science in administration from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. After providing superior education as a teacher for 13 years, she has excelled since 2016 as an associate principal with the Foster-Glocester Regional School District and Ponaganset High School and as a literacy coordinator with the district since 2021. Ms. Grundel’s professional honors include NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals) National Assistant Principal of the Year Finalist and Rhode Island Assistant Principal of the Year, each in 2021.

Ms. Grundel’s career choice stems from her desire and love for working with students of all backgrounds and providing them with equal access to literacy instruction. Her interest in school administration was influenced by Dr. Rene Palazov, the principal of her school when she had her first teaching job, who currently serves as the principal of the same school where Ms. Grundel currently works. She is proudest of her work at Ponaganset High School in North Scituate, Rhode Island, where her leadership in literacy instruction at the secondary level resulted in a very impressive 71 percent decrease in the number of students struggling with literacy competencies and requiring intensive interventions.

In the coming years, Ms. Grundel intends to publish a book on secondary literacy, as well as shift into the full-time literacy consulting realm. In addition, she wants to continue fulfilling her mission of advancing her literacy work for both the Foster-Glocester Regional School District and Ponaganset High School.
